Born to be wild

The lady on the scooter was an artist named Szabó Éva (sadly she passed away 4 years ago). She decorated the scooter herself, and as far as I know she could have embroidered the dress herself too, as she was absolutely skilled at the craft and often gave away tapestries to churches.

She worked on cars too (as well as easter eggs, besides teaching folk dance):

She learned the art of Kalocsa patterns from her mother and she believed in keeping the folk motifs alive so passionately that she reportedly told she’d paint an entire house or airplane kalocsai if anyone asked her.

her kind do not die

once upon a time there was a prince
and he loved a mermaid

do not picture her incorrectly
she was not as mermaids are in the paintings
and indeed the prince did not love her for her beauty
for though she was as silver as a fallen star
her hair was tangled with seaweed
her skin was scarred by fights with sharks and whales
and her claws sometimes pierced the prince’s skin when
they kissed too passionately
(the sea does not breed kindness, after all)
but her heart was noble and
her stories enthralling

they planned their wedding on the golden shore
of the southern coast of his kingdom
near the place where they first met
but his father said,

I saw some post about how a woman's love for another woman is "more sacred" than any other love, and I'm sorry, but as a lesbian, I don't buy that. My love for other women is very human and physical and probably nearly identical to "a male's love for a woman," and that doesn't make it any less good.

I frankly don't feel in any way sacred when I love a woman. I adore her, I want to dance with her, I think she's beautiful, etc., but the fact of the matter is that I also think she's sexy, and I'm sexually interested in her in a way that isn't "divine" in the least.

Stop spreading weird evangelical rhetoric about women being more "pure" than men; it can harm young lesbians, especially as they struggle with issues like society viewing lesbian attraction as inherently predatory.

[Start description: A drawing in all blues, greens, and greys of Lup and Barry Bluejeans as merpeople. They are embracing, Barry’s arms wrapped around her, and their chests together, faces close and gazing lovingly at one another. Lup’s hands are on either side of Barry’s head on his cheeks. Lup has darker skin and very light hair that is flowing out behind her. She has large eyes, a sharp nose, a small smile, and a sprinkle of freckles across her nose and cheeks. Barry is very pale with short hair flowing loose around his head, glasses, and a wide grin. His mer-tail is up and out of the frame while hers aims down and along the bottom of the image, flowing in and out of the frame, with the fins at the end of her tail taking up the bottom corner. There are also two other color variants of the same image - one darker with a blue tinged background and a bit of red coloring added especially to her scales and a lighter variant with a white background and more of the red coloring in her tail. End description.]
